Dispute Resolution + Peace-Building

The mission of the Dispute Resolution and Peace-Building (DRPB) Office is to help support and maintain a healthy workplace environment where faculty and staff are comfortable and empowered to voice concerns and raise questions without fear of reprisal.
This office provides faculty and staff with confidential, impartial, independent, and informal resources and guidance to help staff and faculty resolve College-related issues. It was established to improve the quality of work life for Bard employees.

How does it work?

The office supplements but does not bypass the College’s existing policies and procedures for conflict resolution.
  • What We Do
Dr. Hector Escalante is the point of contact for this office. Hector will listen, make informal inquiries, offer options for conflict resolution, and serve as an informal catalyst for positive change. Whenever appropriate, Hector will coordinate with other offices and groups on campus to provide professional development opportunities that support conflict resolution and other relevant endeavors. With the consent of the involved parties, Hector can also refer matters to Susan Grover for mediation.
  • What We Don't Do
This office does not function as an agent of the College or an office of record. Speaking to the office does not constitute legal notice to Bard College and does not constitute notice of a complaint under the College’s Gender-Based Misconduct Policy, Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment, or any other College policy. This office does not serve external constituents.
